Description | In January 2012, the consortium Rodovia da Vitoria, comprised of the companies ECORODOVIAS INFRAESTRUTURA E LOGISTICA S/A (a subsidiary of the Brazilian group CR Almeida) and SBS ENGENHARIA E CONSTRUCOES LTDA, won in a competitive bidding the right to expand, rehabilitate and operate the 475.9 km of highway BR-101 located at the states of Bahia and Espirito Santo. The bidding criteria was the lowest tariff, and Rodovia da Vitoria offered toll rates that were 45.63% below the ceiling set by the federal government. Seven other groups took part in the bidding process: CONSORCIO VIA ESPÍRITO SANTO BR-101, CONSORCIO ITAUNA, CONSÓRCIO ODEBRECHT TRANSPORT - INVEPAR, TPI - TRIUNFO PARTICIPACOES E INVESTIMENTOS, CONSORCIO RODOVIA CAPIXABA, and CONSORCIO INTEGRACAO SUDESTE. The 25-year concession contract was signed in April 2013. The investment was estimated at US$ 1.8 billion (BRL 4.2 billion) over the life of the project. The sponsors created the company Eco101 Concessionaria de Rodovias S.A. to lead the project. Operations commenced in May 2013. In March 2014, the state-owned bank BNDES approved a US$ 113.9 million (BRL 267.8 million) to Eco101. In March 2016, BNDES approved an additional financing of US$ 238.2 million (BRL 882.1 million). |
