Description

Description

The EcoLog Terminal in Amsterdam is the world’s first commercial-scale facility designed to import liquid hydrogen (LH₂) and export liquid CO₂ (LCO₂). The terminal will receive, store, and distribute gaseous and liquid hydrogen while managing LCO₂ for reuse or permanent storage abroad. Initial annual throughput is planned at 200,000 tons of LH₂ and 1.8 million tons of LCO₂, with potential expansion to 600,000 tons and 4.25 million tons respectively. The design includes multiple transport modalities such as dual hydrogen pipeline connections, a dedicated CO₂ pipeline, truck loading facility, barge jetty, and rail access. The project also involves integrating the terminal with next-generation LH₂ vessels and downstream distribution systems, focusing on capturing and reusing cold energy from LH₂ regasification to liquefy CO₂ efficiently.
