Description
Description | The project aims to augment the limited academic work, in terms of teaching and research, on the Economic and Fiscal Governance Framework in EU, by increasing the interest and deepening the knowledge in this field of studies, as well as to strengthen public understanding and awareness of these issues, by explaining technical terms and procedures to the general public in plain language, assisting them to overcome the difficulties related to the accessibility of the relevant fiscal documents, reinforcing this way civic engagement, active participation in the democratic life of Europe, public trust in institutions and thus our common values and rule of law. The Chair’s work will follow an innovative thematic approach, based on the analysis of the key features of fiscal governance in EU, with particular reference to issues that are at the heart of the Commission's interests, such as the reform of the EU's fiscal framework, the European Semester, the NextGenerationEU, the implementation of national RRF Plans, the EU Green Budgeting Reference Framework, the Gender Budgeting dimension, the New Business Taxation agenda etc. This will be achieved through formal (academic courses with reformed curricula, emphasizing the European dimension of fiscal governance, papers, books) and non-formal educational tools (seminars/workshops, Citizens’ Budgets, discussion forums, interactive online platforms, social media channels etc). All the above is anticipated to benefit a diverse and wide range of audience, including students (around 500 per year), researchers, professors, public servants, policymakers, journalists, CSOs, and, eventually, general public, with special provisions for children and people with disabilities. The outcomes of the project will be:teaching of 7 courses, conferences/seminars, 3 academic books, an academic handbook, papers, the Citizens' Budgets for 2026, 2027 and 2028 and a database, where both our own material and EU documents in this field will be kept. |
