Description | With this grant, ECOS will support the implementation of the Standardisation Regulation 1025/2012, ensuring that environmental stakeholders and interests are effectively represented in standardisation work, in line with the spirit of recitals 17, 22 and 41 and Article 5 of Regulation (EU) 1025/2012. ECOS activities will include: • provision of environmental expertise in technical standardisation committees, working groups and strategic groups; • proposing and supporting the acceptance of new standardisation work items, submitting comments and technical contributions on draft standards, contributing to the revision and updating of existing European standardisation deliverables, etc. • contributing to the EU Committee on Standards, AUWP and ICT rolling plan consultations and Standardisation Requests; • participating in relevant ESOs and international standardisation bodies; • cooperating with Annex III organisations, Member States, policymakers and ESOs; • raising awareness and building capacity on standardisation, in particular among its national members. In 2026, ECOS will undertake technical and strategic work in line with the Commission’s priorities as described in the Competitiveness Compass, the Clean Industrial Deal and the 2024–2029 Political Guidelines, supporting the European Green Deal, the Circular Economy Action Plan, the Green Deal Industrial Plan, Fit for 55 and REPowerEU. Priority areas include: Industrial decarbonization, Clean energy, Circular economy and access to transition materials, Bioeconomy and Environmental transparency. ECOS will work to ensure EU standardisation policy and ESOs uphold to EU values of inclusiveness to reinforce the governance of the Single Market and the European Standardisation System facilitating societal interests’ representation. ECOS network, including its Secretariat, national members and experts will provide technical expertise for standards to adequately underpin EU‘s environmental and sustainability goals. |
