Description | The Ecuador Netherlands Clean Development Facility (NCDF) Umbrella Project helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improves the competitiveness of energy intensive industries and the economy as a whole by supporting non-fossil fuel-based power generating projects. It is structured as an umbrella of sub-projects, each of which will generate a specified amount of verified and certified emission reductions. The umbrella project includes the development of three run-of-river hydroelectric plants of sub-projects, Abanico, Sibimbe, and Sabanilla-although there are other sub-projects with the potential to be approved. This project only has one component: it purchases carbon emission reductions over the crediting period 2005-2012. |
