Description | The Edgar and Elgin Area Sewer Separation and Watermain Replacement Project will separate the current combined sewer system into a new sanitary, and storm sewer system. Aging cast iron watermains will be replaced in all locations of sewer separation, as both the current combined sewers, and watermains are over one hundred years of age. Upon completion of sewer separation, and watermain construction road rehabilitation will occur that will also include necessary portions of sidewalk. Separating the existing combined sewers will prevent raw sewage from being discharged into the adjacent Welland River, and allow the city to work towards meeting the Ministry of the Environment F-5-5 regulations. |
