The proposal aligns with the Digital Europe Programme(DIGITAL) to strengthen the EU's critical digital capacities by enhancing data infrastructures for a smarter and more sustainable European transport system. Its objectives include supporting multi-country use cases, fostering common data spaces, and strengthening interoperability. Key focuses are: 1. The establishment of a common data infrastructure for mobility, 2. The development of the European mobility data space 3. The advocacy for sustainable data practices. The project will deliver various significant outputs, such as a collaborative structure, a Knowledge Hub, a coordination roadmap, recommendations for foundational elements for access and exchange, cross-border use cases, and detailed evaluation reports. Its strategic approach encompasses five distinct components covered in Work Packages: 1. Coordination, 2. Collaboration structure, 3. Gap analysis 4. Use cases 5. Communications and dissemination At its core, the project emphasises the selection of cross-border use cases, supported by comprehensive gap analyses and implementation recommendations, crucial for the successful deployment of digital infrastructure of data spaces. By leveraging Third Party Funding, the project aims to extend its impact beyond consortium partners which include research and technology organisations, experts in technical, legal, and governance fields, Member States, partners with strong European networks for effective communication, dissemination, and exploitation, and diverse stakeholders such as public authorities and private actors (transport providers, SMEs, digital service providers). The consortium is fully prepared for immediate implementation, with letters of support from the Spanish and Dutch ministries of transport and 17 ITS National Associations, as well as direct participation from six Member States who are also part of the EDIC in progress.
