EDM Network Modernization Program II

The state-owned energy supplier Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) is carrying out a comprehensive program to modernize the electricity grid. This FC project is intended to support EDM in this program and includes connecting the Beluluane industrial and commercial park (66 kV/ 33 kV) to the electricity grid. The aim of the project is to contribute to an economically efficient, reliable and long-term secure national electricity supply for Mozambique in order to create a basis for sustainable economic development (module objective). The target group is the companies and the population that will be connected to the grid. The project sponsor and recipient is Electricidade de Moçambique E.P. (EDM). The total costs are EUR 21.34 million. An FC grant of EUR 15 million will be made available from this project, as well as a further FC grant of around EUR 5.785 million as part of the EDM program for network modernization (Phase I for short).
