Description | Mozambique's publicly-owned electricity company, EDM, is managing a project portfolio budgeted at over 700 million US dollars for energy transmission to support industrialization and economic growth. The portfolio includes transmission and distribution projects to strengthen the grid and ensure connectivity with neighboring countries, including a transmission line to Malawi. EDM is also investing in power generation plants such as the Temane Power Plant (450 MW) in Inhambane, which is in the final construction phase, and the Mphanda Nkuwa hydro-electric project (1,500 MW) on the Zambezi river in Tete province, expected to be completed in five to six years. |
