Description
Description | The project “Education against anti-Semitism. Learning from the past to understand present challenges. An educational multimedia toolkit” aims to create and promote a multi-perspective educational toolkit based on historical individual sources for teachers, history/human rights educators, and students aged 14–19 from Poland and Lithuania. Within the project we will identify educational needs related to the links between the past and present. Then we will facilitate an understanding of the mechanisms that led to the Holocaust, with the goal of raising awareness about the dangers of anti-Semitism and other forms of stigma and exclusion which can occur in contemporary youth environments. We want to prevent anti-Semitic attitudes, Holocaust denial, and distortion of historical truths, especially in the situation of the growing trend of right-wing nationalist tendencies in Europe and the change in attitude towards the State of Israel after October 7, 2023, and in addition to the growing threat of disseminating anti-Semitic content in a world dominated by new media, vulnerability to deep fakes and online hate speech, ensuring that artificial intelligence is not in the service of anti-Semitism. That's why we will develop a comprehensive set of educational multimedia tools (podcast, website with narrative topics, maps, lesson plans, local educational paths, and two published personal narratives) used within the project for several meetings/workshops for educators and students. Developed tools will be available for use by teachers, educators, and students also even after the project is over. On this way we want to stimulate dialogue and collaboration within the community of educators. We will still enhance local focus in historical education, while also fostering international comparisons and exchange that transcend national boundaries, including post-national perspectives integrated into the project. Finally we want to commemorate persecuted by Nazi Socialists. |
