The overarching development policy objective (impact level) of the FC urgent project Education and Employment Promotion Program (French: Programme de Promotion de lEducation et de lEmploi, PP2E) is to improve the living conditions and local development prospects of the population in the Agadez region, despite the economic loss caused by the state's restrictions on the smuggling economy, and to contribute to the stability of the region. The module objective of the FC project is for the population in the Agadez program region (target group) to benefit from improved access to basic services such as markets, education and transport infrastructure, and to take up legal employment opportunities. The program measures include the provision of funding for the construction and equipment of economic infrastructure, such as markets, warehouses, rows of shops (component 1), primary and secondary schools (component 2), and rural, inter-municipal slopes (component 3). The school construction component is intended to lead to the enrollment of around 6,000 additional children and improved teaching conditions for 76,000 pupils. The construction of the infrastructure is labor-intensive in order to create employment and income opportunities for the target group. Around 3,500 people will be employed. The PP2E project unit in Agadez, under the management of the Prime Minister's Office, is responsible for supporting the local authorities and government agencies in the planning and implementation of the planned individual investments and has been operational since October 2017.
