Education for All Project

This is Phase I of the Education for All Program Project, which will support the Government's program objective to ensure equitable access to a high-quality education system, relevant to the communities in Guinea, and to their economic well-being. Three components cover the first four-year phase of the program, as follows. The first component will expand access to education, by increasing student enrollment in primary, and middle schools, focusing on initial Grade 1 enrollments. Enrollment targets will be developed, with community participation in school mapping processes, prioritizing on under-served areas. Early childhood initiatives will also be supported, as well as literacy, secondary, vocational, and higher education programs. Subcomponents include construction, and rehabilitation of primary classrooms; installation of latrines, and wells; maintenance and repairs; and, construction/rehabilitation of middle schools, including teacher's education schools. The second component aims at improving the quality of education, by developing strategies to improve teaching, and learning. Subcomponents include curriculum innovation and examination reforms; improved learning programs; textbooks, and reading materials; school nutritional programs; and, multi-grade teaching strategies, among others. The third component aims at strengthening the capacity for decentralized management, by increasing responsibilities, and resource availability at schools. Subcomponents call for personnel management; policy monitoring; and, financial, and administrative management, and capacity.
