In Lebanon, around 70% of students attend private schools that charge fees, and only 30% attend public schools, which are free except for a small administration fee. Public schools are in need of modernization in many places and do not meet local needs, for example in terms of the types of schools offered or the number of school places available. By building new public schools, the school building program supports the Lebanese Ministry of Education in making the public education system more attractive by improving learning conditions and improving access to education for all students in Lebanon.
