Description

The EemsGas biomethane project in the Netherlands, a joint venture between Dutch gas network operator Gasunie and sustainable raw materials producer Perpetual Next, has secured an operating subsidy worth up to EUR 149.8 million (USD 174.4m). The project, representing an investment of EUR 100 million, has been awarded an SDE++ subsidy grant from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), guaranteeing a minimum level of income over a production period of 15 years, from July 1, 2029 to June 30, 2044. This is in addition to a DEI+ investment subsidy of EUR 30 million, obtained at the end of 2025. Construction is targeted to start in 2027. Located at the Chemical Park in Delfzijl, EemsGas will produce biomethane from waste wood, delivering 18 million cubic metres of green gas per year. TNO will provide the gasification technology.
