The James Bay Eeyou Society, an Aboriginal non-profit organization (NPO), is proposing the deployment of a vast mobile wireless network in the Eeyou Istchee Baie James region. This project includes the establishment of a basic LTE network, through the deployment of 34 cellular telecommunications sites with communications towers, along the roads of the region and interconnecting to the Eeyou Mobility inc. (EMI) already operational in the communities. • Many of these sites will be off-grid and will include innovative and reliable systems to provide clean, self-sufficient power. o These stand-alone sites will be equipped with super capacitor batteries, solar panels and back-up propane generators.
