The railway FERROESTE – Estrada de Ferro Paraná Oeste S.A., a company in the State of Paraná, holds the concession to build and operate the railway, already existing between the cities of Guarapuava and Cascavel, with the possibility of extension to Dourados/MS. The granting of this concession was effected by Presidential Decree No. 96,913, of 10/03/1988. The Western Export Corridor Project – Nova Ferroeste, with an estimated length of 1,567km, consists of: build a new railway between Maracaju – MS and Cascavel – PR; revitalize the current railway section that goes from Cascavel – PR to Guarapuava – PR; build a new railway between Guarapuava – PR and Paranaguá – PR; It is, build a branch between Cascavel – PR and Foz do iguaçu – PR The aim is to assist the Government of the State of Paraná with the objective of implementing the project, as an attractive venture for the private sector, through the support of the Federal Government for the privatization process of the state company Estrada de Ferro Paraná Oeste, requested by the Government of the State of Paraná. The project was qualified at the 13th PPI Council Meeting, through Resolution No. 133, dated 06/10/2020, which gave rise to Decree No. 10,487, dated 09/15/2020. The studies that make up EVTEA-J were developed by the TPF-Sener consortium. The Government of Paraná, with support from the PPI, carried out a market survey in December 2021 and consolidated the contributions presented by potential investors and interested parties. The contracting model developed in the studies is a onerous assignment of contracts that are currently under the management of Ferroeste. The Environmental Impact Studies were approved by IBAMA and a public hearing was opened for such studies during the second half of May/22.
