Description
Description | This project was qualified at the 1st Meeting of the PPI Council, through Resolution No. 2, of 09/13/2016, converted into Decree No. 8,916, of 11/25/2016. The West-East Integration Railway – FIOL (EF-334) has a length of 1,527 kilometers, between Ilhéus/BA and Figueirópolis/TO. The project is divided into three sections: Section I: Ilhéus/BA – Caetité/BA, with a length of 537 km, of which more than 73.6% of the work was physically carried out (Jul/2019). This is the section that was qualified for subconcession. Section II: Caetité/BA – Barreiras/BA, with a length of 485 km, of which around 36% of the works have been completed (Jul/2019). Section III: Barreiras/BA – Figueirópolis/TO, with an approximate length of 505 km, in the study and design phase. The current total investment planned for the works on sections 1 and 2 of FIOL (Ilhéus/BA – Caetité/BA and Caetité/BA – Barreiras/BA) is in the order of R$ 6.4 billion. FIOL constitutes an important corridor for the flow of ore from the south of the state of Bahia (Caetité and Tanhaçu) and grain from the west of Bahia. There is also the possibility of future integration with the North-South Railway, meeting the objective of integrating railway networks and improving the country's logistical conditions. Cargo flow will be carried out through the terminals of the Porto Sul Port Complex, located in the region of Aritágua, municipality of Ilhéus, with a retro area of 1,224 ha, maritime access bridge and pier with breakwater 3,500 meters from the coast. The objective of the project is to facilitate the flow of iron ore production produced in the Caetité region, through Porto Sul. It is also planned to transport agricultural bulk, liquid bulk and general cargo. The works on the project, currently under the responsibility of VALEC, have reached physical progress of more than 73.6%. It is estimated that R$3.3 billion will be needed to complete the remaining works and other investments necessary for the operation of Section I; Several works of art are completed or in progress, including bridges, viaducts and the Jequié tunnel, highlighting the bridge over the São Francisco River, in Section II, with 2.9 km long, the longest bridge railway in Latin America. |
