The project aims to develop and implement a training programme that enables persons with disabilities to find work in advising public authorities on web accessibility. Persons with disabilities have first-hand experience of what works or not when it comes to accessibility in websites and digital interfaces. These unique insights will be woven into a novel training programme that builds on personal experiences to develop specialized skills and knowledge in web accessibility. The participants will learn a set of skills that are highly sought after by public authorities struggling to fulfil their legal obligations in this domain. The project is built on a cross-border cooperation between the Stockholm region and Åland which will create common qualifications. Expected results: In the jointly conducted training programme, 15 people with disabilities from Åland and the Stockholm region will be trained to assess and provide feedback to public organisations on the accessibility of their websites and apps. The training programme will be developed jointly to include experiences and knowledge from both regions. As a result, the participants will be well equipped to provide support services in both Åland and Sweden. To enhance the practical skills of the participants and increase their employability, the participants will conduct practical assignments as workplace training. The assignments will take place in a cross-border cooperation involving public authorities from both regions. The training programme, including the curriculum and materials will be sustained by the two partner organisations for further use after the project to train more user experts.
