Description

Energy Financing Team (EFT) developed the 300MW coal-fired power plant Stanari, in Northern Bosnia. Annual output was estimated at 2,000 GWh. The fuel, lignite, is expected to be sourced from nearby mines - where the lignite only holds small amounts of sulfur. The developer held a 30 year concession won in a competitive tender in 2008. Commissioning was expected for 2015/2016. The EPC contract was awarded to Dongfang Electric Corporation (China). Construction started in December 2012. The project will connect to the grid via the Banja Luka/Tuzla transmission line. Power plant availability was expected to be 90%. Collenco Stenmuller worked on the feasibility study. Stanari is a merchant power plant. Total project cost was estimated at EUR500 million (US$661.9 million). The project received EUR350 million (US$ 463 million) from the China Development Bank, December 2012. The remainder of project cost was to be financed through equity. http://www.eft-group.net/index.php/news/single/9/EFT-completes-financial-close-for-the-Stanari-TPP-project
