Description
Description | The Eglinton Crosstown streetcar line in midtown Toronto is a major public transit project that has faced significant delays and cost overruns. Originally scheduled for completion in 2020, the project is now five years behind schedule and $8 billion over budget. The project was restructured as Canada's biggest public-private partnership, with many decisions delegated to a consortium of private-sector contractors known as Crosslinx. The project has experienced construction delays, legal battles, and issues with mislaid rails, leaky stations, and scheduling software. Despite these challenges, the line's opening now seems imminent after a truce between Metrolinx and Crosslinx. |
