Egypt - Bilharzia Control Project II

The present project relates the Bilharzia Control Project II. It's designed in order to control the negative impact on the health associated with land reclamation projects by continuing bilharzia control activities in Egypt. This is also to help the government which is engaged in a long standing campaign to control and reduce bilharziasis. The project comprises the following components namely: 1) the purchase of 240 tons of molluscicide; 2) the purchase of 2.5 million tablets of the praziquantel drug; 3) vehicules and spare parts for snail control and chemotherapy activities; 4) equipment for snail control units, rural health facilities, and furniture for one rural health unit; 5) construction of: one rural health unit, two storage facilities for molluscicide, and one vehicules maintenance warehouse; 6) scientific monitoring and evaluation unit and 7) operations support/ training.
