Egypt - Private Sector Development and Economic Diversification Support Program – Phase I

The Private Sector Development and Economic Diversification Support Program (PSD EDSP) is a governmental project that projects to facilitate increased private sector development by improving the business environment and diversifying sources of green growth. The program cost for the first year of the two-year programmatic operation is USD 131 million. Specifically, the program intends to stimulate private sector development and competitiveness, currently hampered by external shocks and various structural factors. The resolution of these difficulties implies interventions on business environment and on key productive sectors already initiated by the government, which makes it possible to envisage complementary and concomitant support in most areas affecting economic competitiveness and the promotion of private investments. Through a holistic approach, the programme will make it possible to strengthen the basis of competitiveness of the private sector in Egypt, mainly in manufacturing, including agri-business sectors.
