Egypt is expanding its solar power capacity significantly, with 800 MW installed in 2025 and plans to increase annual solar additions to above 2 GW over the next three years, reaching over 3.5 GW from 2029 onwards. The cumulative solar capacity is expected to grow from around 2.9 GW at the end of 2025 to 34.3 GW by the end of 2035, supported by a comprehensive policy and investment framework, including independent power producers, tax reductions, and long-term power purchase agreements. The solar pipeline is dominated by utility-scale projects, with significant projects including a 1 GW solar site with 600 MWh storage by Amea Power and a 1.1 GW solar plus 200 MWh storage project by Scatec.
