EIC- Glass sheet

This profile envisages the establishment of a plant to produce sheet glass with a capacity of 15,000 tons per annum. The product is widely applicable in building construction for doors and windows as well as for furniture, show cases, green houses mirrors and the like. The demand for sheet glass is met through domestic production and import. The present (2022) unsatisfied demand for sheet glass is estimated at 61,770 tons. The principal raw materials required are sand, soda ash, limestone, dolomite, cullet, and additives. All the materials are available locally except additives which must be imported. The total investment cost of the project capital is estimated at 5.8 million USD. From the total investment cost, is pre operation cost 632,000 USD and initial working capital 200,000 USD. The project can create employment for 139 persons. The establishment of such factory will have a foreign exchange saving effect to the country by substituting the current imports. The project will also create forward linkage with the construction and furniture sub sectors and income for the Government in terms of tax revenue and payroll tax.
