Eighty-yearly LFS module 2024 and improvement of FI-LFS quality

The objective of the project is to implement the data collection on the eight-yearly variables on ‘young people on the labour market’ and ‘educational attainment – details, including education interrupted or abandoned’ according to the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/2447 and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/2312 and the related explanatory notes made available by Eurostat. These variables will be collected in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2019/1700 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which describes labour domain data collection principals. Hence, the project is in align with a precision requirements and other principals implemented in the Finnish LFS. On the other hand, project aims to provide the training program for interviewers. It will contain detailed guidance in the LFS principals about employment and unemployment. All phenomena can be taken out, e.g., new kind of form of work. Also, it is important that interviewers may openly talk about issues in interviewing, which will increase the understanding what kind of new instructions are needed. Interviewers need also training for solutions of best practices in the mixed mode data collection environment. Furthermore, the web mode (CAWI) data collection is a growing part of the data collection, and we need knowledge on how people will be reached by web or telephone, respectively. Also, the project includes the questionnaire programming work for new instructions and pre-filled data. Data collection of the survey is voluntary in Finland. Thus, it is important to motivate different respondent groups like young and elderly to the way which suits them the best. This project aims also to test some ideas for exceptional motivation measurement for them and improve user experience especially among web respondents.
