The project involves the construction of lot H71 “Eisack River underpass” of the Brenner Base Tunnel in Italy.The lot includes an underpass of the Eisack Riverand will contribute to the completion of the Brenner Base Tunnel.This tunnel is set to link Fortezza, Italy, with Innsbruck, Austria, spanning a total of 55 km (64 km including the existing Innsbruck railway bypass). It effectively establishes a vital connection between Italy and Austria via the Alps, resulting in a significant reduction in travel time. When the tunnel reaches completion, the train journey from Fortezza to Innsbruck will take a mere 25 to 35 minutes.The Eisack Underpass lot constitutes the southernmost section of the Brenner Base Tunnel, positioned prior to reaching the Fortezza station. This lot entails the excavation of approximately 6 km of tunnels, spanning a total distance of 240 m beneath the Eisack River bed.
