Description | South Korean electric vehicle maker EL B&T plans to invest OMR96 million ($250 million) to produce electric vehicles and battery cells in Oman's special economic zone at Duqm. The project will be delivered in two phases with a capacity to make up to 60,000 vehicles and 1.6 million battery cells annually. The first phase covers 467,000 square metres, with an additional 429,000 square metres reserved for the second phase. Commercial operations are expected to start by March 2028, initially targeting demand in Oman before expanding to GCC, Middle Eastern, and North African markets. |
