Description | El Centro College was established in 1966 by purchasing the Sanger Bros. Department Store building for $2,165,036. The college opened in downtown Dallas with an initial enrollment of 4,047 students. The campus underwent multiple expansions from 1972 to 1977 and later added a Student and Technology Center in 2002, adding 26,800 square feet of classroom and student center space. In 2014, wind turbines were installed on the rooftop of the Downtown Campus to provide 10% of the building's power. A new West Campus Allied Health and Nursing building opened in 2008. |
