Description
Description | Colombian Mines is a TSX Venture Exchange listed junior company based in Canada and focused on gold and copper exploration in Colombia. The Company wholly owns the El Dovio Concession which combines 5 contiguous exploration licenses covering an area of 10,106 hectares within the Municipalities of El Dovio and Sipi in western Colombia. To date, Colombian Mines has carried out systematic trenching and geophysical surveys within the concession and has completed an initial 1,500 meter drilling program. The Company also wholly owns the Mercedes Concession located 200 kilometers south of Bogota. To date, activities within this 4,995 hectare concession have included surface sampling, with plans to expand geological mapping and rock geochemistry coverage over the license area during 2013 - 2014. In addition, the Company owns the Yarumalito Concession with an area of 1,456 hectares which is located 110 kilometers south of Medellin and within the Municipality of Caramanta. In March 2012, the Company entered into a JV agreement with Teck Resources Limited for this Concession and has completed airborne magnetic and radiometric and geochemical surveys as well as approximately 18,000 meters of drilling and initial metallurgical studies. The Company has other non-core and JV licenses within Colombia which are yet to be advanced. The initial exploration campaign at El Dovio has been completed and included the building of 3 platforms and the drilling of 10 holes. Drilling equipment used was all portable and transported to the drill sites by foot and horses. The only facility currently at the property includes a two-room camp which has supported drilling activities. During the recent drilling campaign, approximately 30 workers from the local community were hired. Colombian Mines has expressed its objective to follow good international industry practice (GIIP) in environmental, safety, health and community issues. In this sense, IFC will assist Colombian Mines in preparing a comprehensive Health, Safety, Environment & Community (HSEC) Policy which will contain elements of a continuous improvement process and management plans and procedures to address risks and impacts for the exploration stage with commitments to any future mine development. |
