Description | The Colombian company HMV Ingenieros, a subsidiary of Helm Group, was awarded a 25-year contract to build and operate a small hydro power plant located in the municipality of Cocoma, Antioquia. The power plant was named PCH El Popal (19.9 MW). The electricity generated by the power plant was set to be directed to the national grid. The sponsor created the special purpose company Popal S.A.S E.S.P to lead the project, and committed to invest US$ 53 million in the construction of the power plant. The EPC contract was signed with the construction companies Morichal and Bajo Tierra. Construction works commenced in 2011, and operations began in March 2014. |
