El Viaje Films is a film production company based in Tenerife, Canary Islands with over 18 years of experience. Over these years El Viaje Films has built up a recognizable identity, producing a number of fiction and non-fiction films where a focus on auteur focused, independent works, an interest in new narrative formulas and ethical commitment to the subject prevail. With this application to the Media Slate 2021 Development Fund we are presenting a slate of 5 projects which show the depth of our artistic collaborations as well as the diversity of our cinematographic proposals. The sole beneficiary of the development funding will be El Viaje Films. The films in the slate include: La Lucha (fiction feature film), Los Erizos (fiction feature film), Strange Fruit (creative documentary feature film), Manantial (creative documentary feature film), and El Futuro No Nos Ha Cambiado (creative documentary feature film). The scope of the films in this slate are greater in terms of budget and complexity than many of our previous works and the development funding requested to make these films possible, will lead to an increased turnout of high quality independent cinema from the production company. This step forward for the company will improve El Viaje Film’s position on the European and International market helping to implement solid international co-productions, an integrated, carefully constructed distribution strategy, and constant presence in international festivals and markets. The support of this slate built around professional, artistic projects will greatly increase our turnover, lead us to expand our core team hiring professionals with expertise in marketing and distribution, as well as our ability to continue to expand our capacity to produce greater quantities of more ambitious films in the years to come.
