ELABORATION DU PLAN D'ACTION STRATEGIQUE DE GESTION DU BASSIN DU CONGO

The Preparation Project of the Congo River Basin Strategic Action Plan for the integrated water resources management capitalizes on the achievements of the CICOS capacity-building project for the management of information and knowledge of water resources in the Congo Basin which is also financed by the AWF. It fits perfectly into NEPAD's priority axis of integrated management of transboundary water resources and in the poverty reduction strategies of the Congo Basin countries that have put water resources management as a priority for sustainable development. The project is a decisive step in the ongoing mobilization of other financial partners to provide solutions to many development concerns related to the rational management of water resources in the Congo Basin. It will reinforce the appropriation of achievements by the beneficiaries and actors of water and consolidate the consultation between the 9 countries, with a view to optimizing development options through better management of water resources. The project is organized around three components: (i) Strengthening the institutional framework for sustainable management of the Congo Basin; (ii) Development of the sustainable management plan of the basin; (iii) Project management. The duration of the project is 18 months for a total estimated cost of 2,204,673 Euros.
