Description
Description | ELECTRA is an innovative initiative designed to combat the challenges of democratic disengagement, low electoral participation, and the rising threats of disinformation across the European Union. The project specifically targets youth, women, marginalized communities, and local authorities, aiming to strengthen their engagement in democratic processes and enhance their resilience to digital manipulation. Fostering digital literacy, electoral understanding, and inclusive civic dialogue, ELECTRA will provide participants with the tools and skills to navigate and challenge the information landscape. ELECTRA is a transnational initiative involving municipalities and civil society organizations from seven EU countries: Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, France, Spain, Serbia, and Slovenia. The project will implement a variety of participatory activities, including election simulations, digital resilience workshops, youth forums, and storytelling exchanges, to promote electoral literacy and empower citizens to actively participate in democratic life. Through these activities, the project will not only raise awareness about the importance of informed voting but also combat the impact of disinformation campaigns that disproportionately affect vulnerable groups. The project’s methodology combines citizen-led participation, intergenerational dialogue, and collaborative learning, ensuring that all voices, particularly those from underrepresented groups, are heard and valued. Through the co-creation of local charters and the implementation of digital resilience strategies, ELECTRA aims to build sustainable, inclusive democratic practices that will continue to benefit local communities long after the project's completion. Finally, ELECTRA strives to create a more democratic and resilient Europe, where informed participation, trust in institutions, and inclusivity are the foundation of civic life. |
