Electra refinery expansion

Electra Battery Materials is repurposing and expanding its existing facility in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario, to produce battery-grade cobalt sulfate, a key input used in electric vehicle batteries. The project is supported by a $20 million federal investment and has a total cost of $99.4 million. The facility is expected to be the first cobalt sulfate refinery in North America and aims to supply material equivalent to the annual production of up to one million electric vehicles. The project is expected to create and maintain over 160 jobs, including 60 full-time positions, and employ an additional 100 skilled trades workers during construction.
