Description | Puducherry Road Transport Corporation plans to transition to electric buses for its urban and rural operations by the end of 2025. Six electric buses have already arrived, with 19 more expected by July. The project includes 25 buses of 9 meters length, with 10 air-conditioned and 15 non-air-conditioned, operating under a public-private partnership with a gross cost contract. Charging infrastructure is being prepared by Evey Trans Private Limited on a government-owned plot. The project is part of the Union government's FAME-II Scheme and funded initially with ₹23 crore from the Smart City project. |
