Description | Mowasalat (Karwa), under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport (MOT) in Qatar, has conducted a successful trial run of electric robotaxis between the MOT headquarters and the Old Doha Port. The project aligns with Qatar's Autonomous Vehicles Strategy aiming to integrate smart, eco-friendly autonomous vehicles into public transportation. Phase one began in August 2025 with 2500 supervised autonomous trips, achieving 94% success without human interference. The second phase will involve remote operation of two autonomous robotaxis without safety officers onboard, operating on three approved routes, with gradual rollout based on safety compliance. The service will be available to the public via the Karwa app after ensuring full safety. |
