The development objective of Electricity Access Scale-up Project is to increase access to energy for households, commercial enterprises, industrial parks, and public institutions. This project has five components. The first component, Grid Expansion and Connectivity, has the following sub-components: Last-mile connections; and Network expansion and strengthening. The second component, Financial Intermediation for Energy Access Scale-up, has the following sub-components: Financial intermediation through participating financial institutions; and Electrification of public institutions by stand-alone solar technologies. The third component, Energy Access in Refugee Host Communities, has the following sub-components: Grid connectivity and expansion; and Financial intermediation through participating financial institutions. The fourth component, Project Implementation Support and Affordable Modern Energy Solutions, will finance the establishment and operations of the Project Coordination Unit (PCU) at the MEMD, and the PIUs at MEMD and UECCC, through the recruitment of adequate staff and consulting firms, capacity building, implementation support activities and any other associated technical assistance required to achieve the project development objective.
