Description
Description | The primary objective of the E-DELTA project is to electrify the ECT Delta Terminal (hereafter referred to as the Delta Terminal) located in the Port of Rotterdam and its terminal operations, in line with the terminal's goal of carbon neutrality by 2035. The Delta Terminal aims to invest in both electrical infrastructure and zero-emission port equipment, making the E-DELTA project a critical enabler of zero-emission logistics at one of Europe's key port terminals. The project aims to install a total of 12 charging stations with a capacity of 400 kW for electric Automated Guided Vehicles (e-AGVs) and 4 charging stations with a capacity of 150 kW for electric Terminal Tractors (e-TTs), facilitating the deployment of 50 e-AGVs and 2 e-TTs. The e-AGVs will handle the horizontal transport of standard-sized containers on the quay, between the quay cranes and the automated container stack, while the e-TTs will be deployed for export, import, and transshipment container flows on the terminal, including the primary use for out-of-gauge containers and the handling of horizontal transport for other special cargo between quay and landside. The E-DELTA project builds on the insights, experience, and momentum generated through the E-HERO project of Euromax B.V., part of ECT, co-funded under the 2024 CEF AFIF call. As the two terminals are part of the same corporate group and operate in close synergy, the E-DELTA project will leverage technical knowledge, procurement strategies, and operational integration models successfully developed under E-HERO. By deploying the above-mentioned charging points and supplying zero-emissions port equipment, the project will support the decarbonization of maritime transport and contribute to reaching the EU Green Deal's targets, thereby accelerating the energy transition of ports in Europe. |
