Description

Description

Metro track services use rail vehicles and onboard equipment to: - Undertake maintenance work on tunnel infrastructures and fixed installations present in the tunnel, namely service equipment (tracks, electric power supply, telecommunications, power and signalling); - Support the completion of work stemming from major metro projects. These vehicles are used in the tunnels to move the work teams around, in addition to towing lorries and platforms used to transport equipment and work tools. The inventory contains 32 work vehicles and their useful life has been estimated at 40 years. Twenty-one (21) of these vehicles were replaced in the early 2000s since they had reached the end of their useful life. The purpose of this project is to replace the 11 remaining vehicles, i.e. seven (7) draisines and four (4) towing tractors, that are at the end of their useful life, with electric railcar movers.
