Electrogoes was first awarded the contract to build and operate the Cachoeira power plant in 1994. The construction works on this plant, which has a capacity of 11.4 MW, started in Aug. 1994, and commercial operations commenced in Apr. 1997. The Cachoeira power plant involved investments of US$ 12 million, and the power generated by the utility will be sold to the state-owned electricity company Ceron under a 30-year power purchase agreement. Prior to the contract for the Cachoeira power plant, Eletrogoes had been awarded another concession contract to build and operate the Rondon II power plant (Jun. 1993). Construction works on this 73.5 MW plant were expected to start in Jun. 2001 and be completed by 2003. Electrogoes also ha a 30-year power purchase agreement with Ceron to supply the power generated by the Rondon II plant. The power generated by the two plants would provide electricity to 6 municipalities in the southern region of Rondonia state. The Rondon II Hydroeletric power plant started operations only in March 2011. In 2012, Eletrogoes concluded the construction of a 24-MW thermal power plant named UTE Rondon II.
