Objectives - Strengthening network by offering opportunities to representatives of diverse vocational backgrounds, legal traditions and nationalities to interact, network and exchange expertise - Contributing to improvement of European law and formation of a more vigorous legal community mainly through ELI projects, focusing on facilitating judicial cooperation in civil matters - Consolidating role and impact of the ELI in the European legal context Activities 1. Annual Conference (AC) 2. General Assembly (GA) 3. ELI Council meetings 4. Secretariat activities 5. Employing three staff members and two interns 6. Projects Type and number of persons benefiting from the activities 1. Approx 350 jurists and interested public; benefits the latter, the ELI and beyond 2. Approx 250 jurists from Europe and beyond; benefits the ELI and beyond 3. Approx 60 members of the ELI Council; benefits the ELI and beyond 4. and 5. Network/project coordination; benefits the ELI, project teams, network and beyond 6. Research; benefits unlimited number of jurists from Europe and beyond as well as European/global citizens Expected results 1. Dissemination of project results; contributing to ongoing projects by debating on topical issues amongst renowned experts 2. Foster ties within network and define future orientation of the ELI 3. Provide a forum for discussion on the network’s ongoing and future projects; identify priorities for the Institute 4. and 5. Contribution to general management of network; improvement of network’s capacity to manage projects and other activities 6.
