Elk Film is an independent production company founded by Director Andreas Dalsgaard and Editor Nicolás Staffolani. Elk’s team of producers and creatives aim to push creative boundaries, specializing in high profile stories, backed by elaborate research and finely crafted narratives. We are dedicated to developing and producing documentary films, series and fictional adaptations for global audiences. The ambition of the company is to grow internationally with an innovative, competitive business model, focusing on strengthening the development phase of our projects. We believe that thorough development is the prerequisite for the ability to produce more ambitious productions with a considerable size and reach, able to compete in the fast growing, global media markets. This slate consists of four documentary projects: Project 1: THE BAYESIAN THEORY – an investigative feature documentary about the mysterious death of the billionaire Mike Lynch. A death, that might be pure coincidence – or the consequence of a thriller-like conspiracy that ties back to MI6, a $5 billion fraud case and power turned into greed. Project 2: RETROGRAD – a feature-doc about 69-year-old Peer who is writing his autobiography. He delves into his past, where he was placed in countless orphanages and faced devastating abuse, leading to an adulthood of homelessness, prostitution and addiction. Will the arduous journey into the heavy traumas of his past bring him peace of mind, and can the book live up to its goal of inspiring others and making a difference? Project 3: THE CARTOON CRISIS – A thought provoking doc-series that contextualizes the cultural conflict between Western freedom of expression and global religious beliefs through the Danish Cartoon Crisis, following the publication of the Muhammad drawings. Project 4: DONEGALL ROAD BELFAST – A poetic documentary short that places itself at the intersection of loss, identity, memory and football fandom in post 'Troubles' Belfast.
