Description
Description | We plan to build a sidewalk and a separated bike lane on the north side of Elliott Avenue from Bing Court to Crestline Boulevard, starting in 2025. This sidewalk is a key walking route in this neighborhood, and an important connection to bus service on Division Street. The preliminary design includes a new sidewalk, a separated bike lane in the uphill direction with shared lane markings in the downhill travel lane, updated curb ramps, new street markings, and marked crosswalks. The City will also replace the water main during construction of this project and improve stormwater management. Depending on the extent of the water main construction, we may also need to resurface Elliott Avenue. If we do, we will also reinstall the speed humps. We plan to build the section of sidewalk between Division Street and Bing Court in a future phase. Until environmental concerns with old, underground oil tanks in the vicinity of the intersection can be addressed, any improvements near the intersection will be delayed.Project benefits Makes it safer for pedestrians and bicyclists. Creates a buffer between vehicles and people walking or bicycling in the uphill direction. Raises visibility and awareness of potential conflicts between drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Improves mobility for people who have a wider range of abilities, such as people using walking aids. Connects to nearby transit stops on Division Street. Construction information Construction is planned for 2025. During construction you can expect: Lane closures and flaggers directing traffic. Noise, vibration, dust, and debris. Large machinery and truck activity. Parking impacts near the worksite. Project costs The estimated cost is $5,850,000. |
