Elmwood South Reconstruction and Retention project consists of street reconstruction of a section of Elmwood Drive and installation of a storm sewer basin that mitigates significant flood issues due to climate change. The Lewisville South neighbourhood is vulnerable to flooding due its low elevation. Additionally, this neighbourhood is located adjacent to Humphrey’s Creek, a tidal river which is influenced by the Bay of Fundy tide cycles. The area was studied as part of a flood mitigation study completed in 2018. The scope of work includes but is not limited to the installation of a storm sewer relief system, a storm water detention basin and street reconstruction on a section of Elmwood Drive. The road reinstatement will cover approximately 380 metres of road infrastructure. These recommended improvements will reduce the risk of flooding in this neighbourhood. The estimated budget excludes the sanitary sewer renewal and watermain renewal component of the project.
