Description | Air Liquide is constructing the ELYgator project, a 200 MW electrolyzer located in Maasvlakte, Port of Rotterdam, Netherlands. The project aims to produce 23,000 metric tons of renewable, low-carbon hydrogen annually, preventing 300,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year. It integrates two electrolyzer technologies (PEM and alkaline) and connects directly to offshore wind farms in the North Sea, providing operational flexibility and supporting the Dutch power grid. The project reached a milestone in May 2026 with the delivery and installation of the first PEM electrolyzer modules, targeting industrial commissioning by late 2027. The hydrogen produced will supply industrial customers and heavy-duty mobility operators in the region. |
