Description

Description

Indonesia is making great efforts to protect the population of the state with more than 7,000 inhabited islands against COVID 19. At least 60 to 70% of the approximately 270 million inhabitants are to be vaccinated. This requires not only the vaccines, but also the appropriate logistics to bring them to some remote regions. The aim of the results-based project is to reduce the morbidity and mortality caused by COVID 19 in Indonesia. This will directly contribute to reducing the socio-economic impact of the corona pandemic on the population and the economy. Key measures to achieve the goal are in particular the distribution of vaccines, the proper storage and handling of the vaccines, but also the recruitment of additional health personnel. Another important measure will be the creation and implementation of a communication campaign to increase acceptance of vaccination. Vaccines themselves are not financed. The Republic of Indonesia, represented by the Ministry of Finance, will be provided with a subsidy loan of up to EUR 200 million for the COVID 19 vaccination program. The COVID 19 vaccination program is being implemented through co-financing with the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as well as the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The target group is the entire population of Indonesia in order to achieve high immunity against COVID 19.
