Description | Emergency stabilization work is ongoing at the old Pfizer high-rise located at 235 E. 42nd St. in Midtown East, Manhattan. The building experienced structural damage with buckling columns, prompting evacuations and street closures. Crews have installed additional thick steel columns and beams as temporary support, and emergency shoring has been installed from the ninth floor to the roof. Plans include installing containment netting enclosure near the 21st floor. Investigations into the incident are underway. |
