EMERGING PRODUCERS is a training program designed for the up-and-coming producers of documentary films in Europe. It facilitates personal and professional skills development, with a special emphasis put on the role of producers in today’s film industry environment. It focuses on promoting talented European producers, introducing them to the international film market, and creates a functional network of film professionals with the aim to increase the potential of European co- productions. In the last ten years the program has become internationally recognised and it has almost 200 alumni who create and co-produce successful European documentary, as well as fiction, hybrid and animation films. The Emerging Producers program is dedicated mainly to relevant topics such as production, co- productions, digitalization, marketing, distribution and festival strategies, environmentally sustainable work, and it will also focus on deeper analysis of the current trends in the dramatically changing media and film environment. In the core of Emerging Producers program is searching for new opportunities, synergies and dynamics brought by the digital world. The Emerging Producers program is fundamentally based on values of diversity – keeping both gender balance and fair regional representation. For every edition the program works with 18 producers representing all European regions and consists of two sessions – in Jihlava (during the Ji.hlava IDFF in October) and Berlin (during Berlin FF in February). Its key values are professionality, diversity, sharing and innovative approach. It helps and motivates new generation of European producers to succeed in the changing film environment and actively shape its future. In the period of the next three years we will systematically enhance tools supporting year-round cooperation and bring closer inter-connection of all Emerging Producers alumni, thus multiplying the effect of the training program and its follow-up activities.
