EMERGING PRODUCERS is a training programme designed for the up-and-coming producers of documentary films in Europe. The programme facilitates personal and professional skills development, with a special emphasis put on the role of producers in today’s film industry environment. It focuses on promoting talented European producers, introducing them to the international film market, and on creating a new network of film professionals with the aim to increase the potential of European co-productions. The 10th edition of the Emerging Producers programme will be dedicated mainly to relevant topics such as production, co-productions, digitalization, marketing, distribution and festival strategies, environmentally sustainable work, and it will also focus on deeper analysis of the current trends in the dramatically changing media and film environment. In the core of Emerging Producers programme is searching for new opportunities, synergies and dynamics brought by the digital world. It is based on values of diversity – keeping both gender balance and fair regional representation. Space is provided also to the reflection of films as such. In the last ten years the programme has become internationally recognized and its almost 200 alumni have proven to create and co-produce successful European documentary films, but also fiction, hybrid and animation films, which have been collecting many awards and international recognition at the festival circuit. The programme works with 18 producers representing all European regions and consists of two sessions – in Jihlava (during the 25th Ji.hlava IDFF in October 2021) and Berlin (during the 72nd Berlin FF in February 2022). It builds upon the previous experience with the aim to fully take advantage of its growing potential. Its key values are professionality, diversity, sharing and innovative approach. It helps the new generation of European producers to succeed in the changing film environment and actively shape its future.
