ER2Digit lies at the heart of Italy, within the Emilia-Romagna region, where it focuses mainly on artificial intelligence and supercomputing technologies to support the strategic use of data for the enhancement of public services, offering access to top-notch hardware and software infrastructures, while contributing to the assurance of trustworthy data processing. The Hub is built on core competences acquired in 20+ years of innovation policy of the Emilia-Romagna Region, that brought to the creation of an effective innovation ecosystem, made by many public and private actors who invested - and are still investing - in the delivery and adoption of new technologies and innovation across all economic and social sectors. Three core partners constitute ER2Digit, all of them not for profit and participated by regional or national public entities: ART-ER, with its experience in the implementation of innovation policies of the Region and in the coordination of the ecosystem, LEPIDA, the main public regional player directly supporting digitalisation of the public sector, and Cineca, acting as RTO, owner of one of the most important HPC facilities in Europe and worldwide. Moreover, one of the founding components of the innovation ecosystem, the High Technology Network of Emilia-Romagna, will also be directly involved. This is made of more than 90 accredited industrial labs and innovation centres, working to digitalise SMEs and local public sector bodies across the Region, with an annual turnover of 26M€ of research contracts and The ER2Digit is a candidate European Digital Innovation Hub based in the Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. ER2Digit focuses its activities on artificial intelligence and supercomputing technologies to support the introduction and strategic use of data and in particular big data for the enhancement of public services offering access to excellent hardware and software infrastructures while guaranteeing the lawfulness and ethicality of data processing.
